Teamsters Endorse DelBene for U.S. Congress

DelBene wins support from 7,000 Teamster families in the First Congressional District

(Everett, WA) -  The Joint Council of Teamsters No. 28, which represents more than 50,000 Teamster families in Washington, announced its support for Suzan DelBene for U.S. Congress today.

More than 7,000 Teamsters live and work in the newly drawn First Congressional District.

“Suzan DelBene understands that union workers make businesses stronger and more competitive,” said Steven Chandler, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 38. Local 38 represents some 4,000 private sector workers in Snohomish County, including grocery clerks at Safeway, QFC and Albertsons stores.

“Just look at UPS, which is doing record-level business in the region thanks to hundreds of very efficient and motivated Teamster drivers and warehouse workers,” said Leonard Kelley, a former UPS driver and current Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 231 in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. “Suzan DelBene understands our local economy can only grow if we have strong, viable businesses that support strong, family wage jobs.”

In the next few weeks, Teamsters will invite Suzan DelBene and the media to visit Teamster job sites to meet with Teamster members, including the Monroe Correctional Complex where more than 1,000 Teamsters officers, nurses and other public employees face highly dangerous working conditions.
